Putin says hydrocarbons to remain in demand for decades

ZAVIDOVO, Tver Region, Jan 25 (PRIME) -- The structure of the global energy consumption is unlikely to change in the coming decades, hydrocarbons will remain in demand, President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting with students on Monday.

"The use of alternative energy sources will rise, of course, but the consumption structure will barely change significantly in the coming decades. Hydrocarbons will remain in demand for a long time," Putin said, adding that energy consumption is forecast to rise due to the increase of global economy.

He also said that Russia will develop alternative energy sources as well.
